What is the difference between "Direct connection" and "EasyConnect"?

GigaTribe is built on a peer-to-peer architecture (P2P). P2P that transforms your computer into a server that allows incoming call (connexions) from members in your network. This is direct connection.

Direct connection will only work if incoming calls to your PC are not blocked by a firewall or router. Ordinarily, you must configure these devices to accept incoming calls. If you do not know how, or are unable to configure your router (you may be trying to connect from work for example), GigaTribe will not work in direct connection mode.

We created the EasyConnect mode as a solution to this problem.
In EasyConnect mode, one of our servers receives incoming calls instead of your computer; this way, there are no more incoming calls to your server, and no configuration required.

NB: Data received by our servers passes through, and is not stored, analyzed or shared with a third party. Therefore, you have the same level of privacy as you do in direct connection mode (data remains encrypted as well).
Transfer speed is slower in EasyConnect because there is an intermediary server between you and your network.
